A Medscape survey revealed some of the reasons health insurance companies’ prior authorization requirements for treatments or medications are unpopular with many physicians. Around 2 in 3 physicians said they must spend more time on prior authorizations than 3 years ago, and about 8 in 10 of them said their staff do the same. Also, 72% of physicians said their employers’ administrative costs with prior authorization requests are higher.
